upgrade of client with some files on a network drive

I was wondering what is the best way to go about upgrading our clients from version 7 to 8.5 when we have some of the notes files on a network drive. We have names.nsf, bookmark.nsf, notes.ini, headlines.nsf, desktop and user.id on a network drive while all the other files are local. We do not use roaming users.
Is there a way to use smart upgrade with this setup or how about would we go about doing an upgrade without having to go to every computer to install the new version.
